The Ptarmigan Cirque trail was short in distance but was a rewarding and enjoyable time. There were so many incredible views it was definitely a breathtaking hike. It starts at a high elevation already and begins with a 1km climb, but don’t be discouraged. It is definitely worth the work! Once you get to the cirque the trail levels out. It is an interpretive trail with stops along the way for reference.
It goes above the tree line where there is lots of loose rock, so be careful and watch your step. It is a fairly popular trail, so you will likely see other hikers of all ages. Also be mindful that it gets chilly at such a high elevation and the weather can change quite quickly so wear and bring layers. The stark landscape and view of the surrounding mountains is truly awe inspiring. There is even a variety of wildlife to be seen from Marmots to Mountain Goats.
I highly recommend you check this hike out, especially if you don’t have the time or ability for a long distance trek. The views alone made this adventure a real gem.
